Our Vision & 5 Core Values

  • OUR VISION: "We envision a city where time and resources of all people are equitably valued as a community asset."

OUR FIVE CORE VALUES:

  • Assets: Everyone has something to give. We are an asset-based society. Everyone’s time is
valued equally. We are the expression of abundance and we share what we love to do with
    others.

  • Re-defining Work: The market economy says the more demand there is on a product or service,
the higher the cost or value of that item; and conversely, things which are plentiful have little or
no value. We believe the time spent on neighborly favors is work and a societal value. The time
for neighborly favors is just as valuable as time spent receiving professional advice or
consultation. Time is our currency, not money. Time spent exchanging is what is valued,
    recorded, and credited.

  • Reciprocity: Each exchange is mutually beneficial between a giver and a recipient. Giving
requires someone to receive, and we value both giving and receiving equally. We practice
reciprocity in our community by monitoring credited hours in our own account in order to
encourage a personal balance between giving and receiving. Doing so minimizes a one-way
direction of time and resources, thus bolstering one’s threshold of sustainability as well as the
    community as a collective whole.

  • Community: Community is built with every exchange and is the by-product of reciprocity. A
community that values equality and equity is what we are building.

  • Respect: Just like assets, everyone deserves respect—no matter who we are, what we have
done, or where we are going.
